A virtual shower is one way to connect with loved ones who are far away in order to celebrate life’s special moments.
In today’s world it’s not unusual to have family and friends living in another state or country, unable to travel, in the military or for one reason or another simply can’t attend all your special events. However, technology enables us to stay connected even with these challenges. A Virtual Shower brings together the best parts of technology and the in person shower to create a meaningful, unique and special event.
-
While each Virtual Shower is unique, typically the first step is the creation of a a personalized Virtual Shower website
just for your event. It could include pictures, a love story, games, a guestbook, registry information and anything else that’s important. Next, usually there is a date and time for your Virtual Shower. This is when guests connect with the guest(s) of honor (GOH) in using the best method to meet the needs of your Virtual Shower. There are many ways to connect but the most popular is using video conferencing to connect all guests and the GOH. This allows each guest to see each other and communicate as a group, just as if you were all in the same room. Don’t worry, we make sure everyone can figure out the technology piece!
With that being said, there are numerous ways to host a Virtual Shower. The sky is the limit and we are happy to help make your Virtual Shower just as you imagine it!

Essentially a Virtual Shower can be anything you want it to be and we are here to help you execute it.
Yes, you can send super cute invitations, via mail or email or both.
Yes, you can send favor boxes to all the guests or only the guest of honor. These can include decorations, food, liquor, etc.
Yes, you can send prizes to the winner of the games.
Yes, there are games! Usually there are a few easy games on your personalized website.
Yes, the guest of honor can open gifts in front of everyone so all can see and hear their enthusiasm and gratitude.
Yes, you can save money on travel, room rental, food and booze.
Yes, you can save time by allowing the virtual shower to be about one hour long.
Yes, by definition Virtual Showers are eco-friendly. The biggest carbon footprint of weddings is travel so by limiting it we are helping to save the world!
Yes, you can wear yoga pants and slippers to a Virtual Shower (and no one will know)!
And yes, you can have just as much fun, and maybe more, at a Virtual Shower.
-
As most things in life, it depends on the level of detail. We have been known to create a Virtual Shower in one month however it usually takes longer from invitations to party! We will work with you on realistic timing.
-
We will help you create the best website for your event. It will include pictures and personal stories, event details and games. It can include a Welcome page, a How to Join Virtually page, a Registry page and a Guestbook for comments from your guests. These are the typical pages but we can always add or subtract to meet your needs.
Personally I love pictures so the more the merrier! Creating the website will be a collaboration and we want to make sure you are happy with it before sharing it with guests.
There are 2 sample websites to view, one Sample Wedding Shower Site and one Sample Baby Shower Site (coming soon). These are just samples but hopefully it gives a feel for how it could work for you.

Yes, and many people do! Oftentimes there are some family and friends in your area and able to travel to the in-person shower which is awesome. For those loved ones where travel is not an option, for any number of reasons (financial, work, military, school, disability, distance, etc), consider connecting with them via a Virtual Shower.
The Virtual Shower can be at the same time as the in-person shower or the Virtual Shower can be at another date and time. It is up to what the GOH is most comfortable with.
Now we know you can have both an in-person shower and a Virtual Shower. So, there is no reason to call one shower “the real one” and one shower “the fake one”. This is just a little pet peeve of mine because they are both real and fun!
-
It can be as small or large as you want. A typical guest range is anywhere from 3 to 30. When planning, if all guests will be signing into a video conferencing platform (which we will help select and set up) it’s easier to manage about 20 guests.
-
Definitely! That would be so fun.
For example, if you had 5 family members in Atlanta, 3 friends in St. Louis and 2 friends in San Francisco they could all sign in separately at 10 different locations or they could get together locally and sign in from each of the 3 cities or anywhere in between.
That is the beauty of Virtual Showers – it’s flexible. If guests can get together that’s great, but if not that is great too. You can even attend a Virtual Shower from work! That’s right; a guest can attend a Virtual Shower and roll silverware at their restaurant at the same time! It’s been done before!
-
Usually one hour. This gives all guests enough time to say hello, chat, laugh about the answers to the games on the website, open gifts, talk about crazy Uncle Jerry, say thank you and most importantly get excited for the big event!!
But there is no time limit so if your group is chatty, chat away.
-
There are plenty of games that can be played on your website. One of my favorites is a personalized quiz all about the guest of honor (GOH). This could be multiple choice or fill in the blank. For example, where did the happy couple meet or will the baby be a boy or girl?
There are also plenty of game options. I recommend selecting games that are easy and will hold the attention of your guests. You know, make it easy on them. A few examples are: Matching Famous Couples, Animal Pregnancy Game, Around the World Game, Candy Bar Game, TV Moms and Dads and the list goes on.
The answers are collected and the winners are announced the day of the shower. Plus we can send a prize to the guest who won, if you want!
-
There are so many advantages; we can’t possibly list them all. But here are a few: the ability to connect with loved ones when you would not be able to otherwise, we will help you create the perfect event for the GOH, it’s easy to do when you have experienced people guiding you, overall the expense will be less than an in-person shower, overall the time will be less than an in-person shower and it’s eco-friendly!
The main advantage is finding a solution to make this event special for the GOH!
-
Each event has its own set of challenges. Since Virtual Showers is a relatively new concept we work hard to explain what a Virtual Shower is and making it comfortable for all guests. There are many ways to make everyone feel comfortable with the concept and technology but one of the most important is through communication - clear, concise and timely communication.
We will work with you to create a specific timeline for your Virtual Shower. The communications can come from either you or us. We will have check in’s to make sure things are moving along as they should. We will work together to execute the best event!
Please know, we are here to answer all questions to make guests feel comfortable. Our goal is to have you and all your guests talking about how awesome Virtual Showers are and spread the word!
-
This is the biggest challenge a Virtual Shower faces. You can be assured there is no way a Virtual Shower we help you host will seem greedy.
Here are a few things to fight against that: Your personalized website will start with a friendly Welcome Page then there will be numerous other pages before the registry page is listed with wording of: if you would like to purchase a gift they are registered here. Also, by sending invitations, favor boxes, advice cards and/or prizes this assures guests it is not much different than an in-person shower.
Also, many people want to (and will) buy the GOH a gift, whether or not they are invited to a shower.
-
This is a card that can be mailed with the invitation. It’s a way to make the Virtual Shower more personal. The idea is to send a cute blank card, something like this, to each guest, with a stamped envelope with the GOH address. Guests are to write a letter to the GOH and drop it in the mail so it can be opened at a specific time and really make an impact of connecting with loved ones!
-
Guests will be sent the specific url website address. This can be sent in the invitation, email or both. You and your guests are the only ones who have access to this url. This ensures other poeple will not be looking at your personalized website.
Additionally, the url can be custom to your event. It can look something like this: www.VirtualShowers.org/MaryandBen.
-
I hope so. We put a lot of work into making it as easy as possible. Each guest comes with a different level of technology experience but we pride ourselves on making it work for everyone. I have a customer service background and pleasing people is the goal.
At the end, we want you and your guests to be happy and tell others about your awesome experience!

There are many reasons to host a Virtual Shower. If you are looking for a unique, creative and fun way to shower love on a special person a Virtual Shower is a wonderful solution. If a few or many people can’t attend a shower physically a Virtual Shower is a perfect way to connect.
Don’t let distance stop you from connecting with loved ones on your special day.
-
It costs less than you think. The cost varies depending on what you want help with. We can help talk you through some ideas and options, we can create a website and video conferencing event, or we can do all the communications, send invitations & favors.

Right now we are focused on wedding and baby showers however that doesn’t mean we can’t do other events as well. We are happy to talk about any event you have in mind. A few other event suggestions have been: reunions, birthdays, and graduations.

To attend a Virtual Shower that only has a website, each guest will need the internet to view the website.
To attend a Virtual Shower that has both a website and a video conferencing element each guest will need the internet and a device with a camera (which means one of the following: a computer with a camera (built-in or camera attachment), a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone).
A strong internet connection is essential. Each guest will need the ability to download a video conference app which step by step instructions are provided. Plus, we are always available to answer questions.
Here is an example of a How to Join Virtually page: click here.
-
The first thing is to always check your internet connection. Are you connected? What is the strength? Can you get closer to the router to increase the strength?
Be sure to check your sound – is it on and turned up? Many times the device is muted.
I always recommend testing the app before the Virtual Shower. Essentially, do a dry run to make sure everything is working properly. You may need to download an app.
Call, email or use the chat function to connect with us to help resolve any issue. Sometimes it will take a few minutes but we will get you connected.
